Acoustics Tuning Fork 1 Another tuning fork. I presume the length of this one is an exact multiple of half wavelength of the sound produced by vibration of the fork. On top of the resonator is a pipe organ. Air is blown in through a slit and vibrates with a frequency determined by the length of the tube. Longitudinal oscillation of the air column that produce a not at the end of the tube will "hold" on its energy. Anything else will dissipate. |
